Human dignity is the same for all human beings; when I trample on the dignity of another, I am trampling on my own. ~Pope Francis

There are moments when I thought, 'Maybe we are a cursed lot.'

The levels of poverty in the world are higher than they've ever been.

It is a little hard to believe that we live in a more advanced world.

I thought, 'Maybe we traded our souls for this. For all this wealth, prosperity, 'civilization' and advancement.' I fail to understand how we stooped so low.

Have you ever realized that bad news sells without fail?

We heavily consume negative information without thought.

I wonder if our heart bleeds for the children we see dying out of hunger, hundreds of people killed or dying because they seek a better life, and millions of women and children sold and trafficked yearly out of poverty and families' desperation for financial security.

Since when did we become so okay with people being sold like goods, seeing people die out of starvation in fertile lands, or watching them die as if their life did not matter?

Upholding human dignity is a right and a practice we must actively participate in.

We are so ahead of ourselves we forget what we need.

HUMANITY!

We need to be more responsible for each other's lives and well-being.

Our hearts should be bleeding when we see innocent lives being claimed by situations we can absolve. Yet here we are, busy trying to build robots that can understand human emotions yet we do not address the 'big questions of life.

A start to uphold human dignity means we should recognize the work we must do.

Corruption must be weeded out. Children must go to school and get quality education, everyone has a right to a meal, a clean environment, clean drinking water, and sanitation the list is endless!

We need to grow each other's freedoms as much as we grow ours.

It is not progress when basic—needs are not available to everyone.

But hey! This could all sound like a pipe dream.

Ask yourself, why is it so hard to do good when we were built to do good?

I could be just as guilty as you, reading this now but we must do better.

If you are already doing this, we see you, applaud you, and are grateful. Keep at it!

Take time aside to understand why it is important to uphold human dignity—and why we need to protect it.

Join the conversation, research, educate yourself more, contribute to food relief fundraisers, and start your own!

I quickly realized change does not come from powerful institutions, organizations, governments, or people. It is the little things that matter.

You are the change that society needs today.

Remember, it is the little things that matter.

Nothing but cocoa love,
